Dear parents/carers,
Welcome back to Term 2, an extraordinary start to the term for sure. We have started the term with approximately 50% attendance and we look forward to welcoming more students back in the coming weeks.
We have had the majority of our teaching staff return following the break. We do, however,
have a few teachers that are on leave, these staff are listed below:
Teaching Staff on Leave Replacement Staff Member
Yvonne Thomas (Kindy) Miss Elena Roberts
Anne Farrell (Art) Mrs Jessica Battle
Lisa Van Der Wielen (Yr 6) Mrs Jo Barnes (Thursday and Friday)
It really has been such a joy to watch our students return to school and we are very proud of
them for showing such resilience and kindness to their peers. The staff too, have greatly
appreciated being back with their students and we are running our school as normal as is
possible.
I want to reassure all parents/carers that we have an extensive cleaning regime and I thank
our cleaning staff for the excellent job they are doing. I also thank parents for following our
request to drop your children at the gates. It has been very helpful. The students at school
are very well-settled in classes, which is wonderful to see. Students have also continued to
follow social distancing, where practical, and have been following good hygiene practices,
washing their hands and sanitising many times a day. Our year 6 students have commented
on this in their writing today, I have quoted some of their text below:
“I feel safe being back at school knowing our cleaners are doing their very and absolute best to keep our school as healthy as it could ever be.” Mia M Yr 6
Please also enjoy snippets from the letters written to me today which very much reflect how
happy and settled our students are.
Dear Ms Bates,
I’m so glad to be back at school. At home I missed school so I am back at school. I
love school it is the best school ever because I love learning. I enjoy school more
than home. I love my teachers. Teachers are the best people in school and the
principals too.
From,
Alice LA5
“I love being back at school because I get to see my friends and nice teacher and
make stuff like ANZAC art.” Sophie D LA20
I hope that for our students learning from home are enjoying the work provided by their class teachers.
We also hope that you as parents are feeling supported. At this stage our staff will
continue to make weekly contact with students that are learning from home.
Parents I refer you to the website, under Latest News, resources that have been produced
by The Commissioner for Children and Young People these will be posted in the next few
days and you may find them of interest during such uncertain times.
I wish you all good health and encourage you all to embrace our school values which are
most important in these uncertain times: kindness, resiliency and respect.
We really are all so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful school and community.
Kind regards,
Lynne Bates
Principal
