Dear Parents/Carers,
Your child is soon to be entering high school. Already they are being prepared through transition programmes. How prepared are you as parents for this transition though? We strongly encourage you to attend this evening to support and further prepare you in as many ways possible in order to help your child transition.
Parenting adolescents is challenging and young people today are faced with many complex situations that may be outside your comfort zone.
Campbell Primary School has designed an evening workshop for parents to provide you with the information and skills to support the emotional development and well-being of your children.
Yvonne Kilpatrick, Zoe Parry (Amherst Psychology) and Claire Tan (school psychologist) have a wealth of experience in supporting students’ mental health and well-being.
They will be sharing essential information on a range of issues including:
- Opportunities and challenges in the first months of high school
- Your role as a parent of young adolescents
- Early warning signs of anxiety and/or depression
- Responding to anxiousness in a positive way
- Where to get support
- Social media
- Communicating with teens
Staff from Canning Vale College will also be attending the evening to chat about any concerns or queries you may have.
This initiative is central to Campbell Primary School’s commitment towards supporting students and families in all aspects of childhood development.
I hope that all parents find the time to attend this important event because as you do, we also feel there is nothing more important than the well-being of your child. We believe this workshop will further enhance your capacity to offer support to your children during this transition. This is an event for parents only.
Light refreshments will be available. We will also draw a prize on the evening of $250.00 for fees to be paid to for a student entering Year 7 at Canning Vale College in 2020.
