Aboriginal Elder Visit

Mr Leonard Thorn, a well respected Aboriginal Elder in the Noongar community, visited our school recently to impart knowledge to students, Pre-primary to Year 6, of the cultural practice of fishing provided to him by generations before.  He spoke about survival in a harsh climate, respect for and care of Country and how Noongar people travelled the land dependant on the six seasons and sustainable food hunting and gathering. He brought with him a number of artifacts that engaged students found fascinating.

Next term Mr Thorn’s presentation will be the stimulus to undertake an integrated whole school Cross Curriculum STEM project. Watch this space.
