At 11.15am today, Friday 8 April 2022 the school held the ANZAC Day service via WebEx.
The whole school stopped and participated in this special event and we were lucky enough to have Mr Craig Chapman, former Royal Australia Navy, from Applecross RSL WA present the ANZAC Day address.
This was followed by Miss Harvey leading the whole school in the ANZAC Day version of I Am Australian. Throughout the school you could hear the students singing and this created a very moving atmosphere.
The school has been lucky enough to be able to purchase a piece of Toodyay stone with a plaque to recognise the Aboriginal soldiers and their contribution. This will be laid in the ANZAC garden at the front of the school below the flag poles. Thank you to Mrs Wylie for successfully gaining a grant from the DVA to fund this.
The whole school stood while Miles, Ray and Ms Bates laid wreaths at the base of the flag poles, the Last Post and Rouse were played. After the traditional minute silence to remember our fallen soldiers who gave their lives for us to have ours, Lisa read the Ode of Remembrance.
Finally the whole school sang the National Anthem.
The Student Councillors, Miss Harvey and Mrs Slee worked extremely hard to host this moving ceremony. We would like to acknowledge and thank them for their work.
