Principal’s Address – Week 1 Term 1 2020

Dear Parents/carers,

Welcome back to the 2020 school year at Campbell Primary School I hope that you all enjoyed a relaxing and safe holiday period.  A special welcome to all new parents and students who have yet to experience our wonderful school. We wish you and your children a happy and productive experience at Campbell Primary School.

It has been fantastic to see the students settle into their new classes with such enthusiasm and happiness. I thank all parents and carers for your support of our school in ensuring the children are well prepared for their schooling with books and uniforms. A special thanks also to the highly dedicated staff at Campbell PS who have worked many hours prior to the start of the school year preparing their rooms and planning for the year ahead.  I look forward to a highly productive and successful year ahead.

School Start time and Duty of Care

The school start tie is 8:40 am, with a teacher on duty in the Boulevard area from 8:10 am. Students that arrive at school before 8:10 am are to sit outside the administration office opposite the staff room. They will be dismissed from here, to the Boulevard area, at 8:10 am. Students should not arrive at school before 8:00 am.

Bushfires

The school staff offer our sincere sympathy to all families that may have been affected by the significant bush fires on the east coast in recent months. We wish to remind our families that we have a school chaplain who is available if any family or student is experiencing emotional distress due to these events. Our staff raised funds to donate to the red cross following our dress casual for a cause professional learning days. We will also have a fundraiser hosted by our incoming student councillors to raise funds for those families in need; the charity will be chosen by our student leaders.

Parents are also reminded that our school has a Bushfire Policy which is located on the school’s webpage, I encourage all families to read through this policy.

Regular bush fire drills occur throughout the year in order to prepare both staff and students for such an event if required. We encourage families to also develop a family plan for home in the event of a fire.

Novel Coronavirus
I wish to thank parents and carers for your support in the school’s management of the recommendations from the Health Department pertaining to the Novel Coronavirus.

We will continue to keep you well-informed of any changes that may arise. If you have concerns about the risks to your children, please refer to the Department of Health website or the Healthdirect helpline on 1800 300 243.
