Principal’s Address Week 10 Term 4

Dear Parents/carers,

We have had such a hugely successful Term 4 with so many wonderful highlights such as the Graduation Ceremony, Parent Helper morning tea, Evening on the Green, Kindergarten Christmas Concerts and a large range of informances, incursions and excursions. As such I thank all staff for their support in making this school the very special place it is. We have fabulous staff, wonderful students and a very supportive community all of which are enablers for an exemplary school.

As this is the last principal’s address for 2019, I would like to sincerely thank the parents and community members for your support of the school and your children’s education over the school year.  It has been highly successful year with the students being well-supported to reach their academic and social potential. I thank all staff for their extraordinary commitment to their profession. I also thank and acknowledge the efforts of all parents and community members for your fantastic support of our children. For the families who are leaving Campbell this week for secondary school or for new schools, thank you for your support over the time you have been at Campbell PS, we wish both you and your child/ren every success for the future.

I wish everyone a very special holiday season spent with family and friends; I hope you all have a very relaxing and rejuvenating break. I look forward to 2020 being another productive and exciting year for staff, students and the school community.

Student Reports and Position Report – Grade Distribution

Parents are advised that student reports were sent out last Thursday with a School Position Report. The position reports provide written information that clearly shows individual student achievement in the learning areas studied compared to that of other children in the child’s peer group at the school. This information shows the number of students in each of the achievement levels A – E.

We hope that all families will take some time to share the successes of their children and set goals for 2020.

Staffing 2020

I wish to advise that 2 of our longstanding staff members are leaving us this year, Mrs Sophia Spencer and Mrs Emma Williams.  Mrs Spencer has won a permanent position at Mount Pleasant PS and Mrs Williams has won a permanent position at Kensington PS.  Both teachers have been at CPS the school for over 10 years. They have both been exceptional educators. We wish them all the best and thank them for their significant contributions to the Campbell PS community.

I would also like to advise that Mr Brett Mansveld will be taking on a teaching role at Darlington Primary School for 2020, we wish him all the best and look forward to his return in 2021.

Welcome Back

The following staff will be returning to us in 2020:

Mrs Gill, Mrs Holland, Mrs Buckley and Mrs Barnes.

The following staff will not be with us in 2020

Ms Rachel Strickland, Mrs Astrie Brown and Mr Blake Regan.

We wish staff that will not be with us in 2020 all the very best for their future endeavours and thank them for their contributions to the Campbell PS students and families.

Thank you to the School P&C

Once again our incredible P&C members have worked tirelessly to support community engagement and school fundraising. Without their efforts we would not be able to run the Chaplaincy programme or have funded the many interactive TVs which are being rolled out across classrooms. A special thank you to Mrs Leonie Gurr, P&C president, Mrs Gurr will step down from this role in 2020.

Class Placements 2020

Many requests for class placements have been received for the 2020 school year as such parents are again advised that requests for specific teachers and or requests for non-placement in composite classes or tandem arrangements are not considered. The school does not view these arrangements as detrimental to students’ academic or social development. Parents should also be aware that correspondence provided to the Principal will be considered by staff, but does not guarantee a particular outcome being sought by parents.

Further information regarding class placement is available on the school’s webpage-   Campbell Primary School’s Class Placement Guidelines. I encourage all parents to read this document as it clearly defines the rigorous process undertaken to place students each year.

Advice of Student’s Class and Teacher 2020

On Friday 31 January 2020, after 1.00pm parents will be advised of their child’s 2020 class and teacher via email.  Hard copies of class list will only be displayed on the morning of Monday 3 February 2020.  Parents are asked to ensure that their email addresses are current in preparation for notification in 2020.
